Mistress of The Throne

I got the opportunity to read this book.here I would like to mention ,It was my first attempt to write a review on a historical fiction,I should thank my brother for motivating me.He gave me this book on very first day of my vacation.
The Mistress of the throne narrates the powerful story of one of India's most opulent and turbulent times through the eyes of an unsuspecting character :a Muslim queen. It uses actual historical figures to illuminate the complexity of an era that has often been called,"India's Golden Age."
It is a story of a powerful Queen of India during Mugal's periods. She is a daughter of Mutual King Shah Jahan and Queen Mumtaj
1631,The Empress of India-Mumtaz Mahal -has died .Yet ,rather than anoint of his several others wives to take her place as Empress of India , Mugal king Shah Jahan anoints his seventeen year -old daughter Jahanara as the next Queen of India.
Bearing an almost identical resemblance to her mother ,Jahanara is the first ever girl of a sitting Mugal king to be anointed queen.
Now the real story begins.;an irony of powerful girl rather an elegant mistress. She had everything in her life :fame ,money , position and power etc.but the thing which is essential for a human being was lagging in her life like love .Jaha Nara struggles to come to terms with her own dark reality :as the daughter of a sitting King ,She is forbidden to marry.while She lives in the shadow of her parents 'unflinching love story,She is devastated by the harsh reality that she is forbidden to share such a romance with another.how ironical it was!
You would surprised to know ,She was protagonist behind making of the Taj Mahal and creation of Delhi city. The King was lost in the memories of his wife Mumtaj. He mourned for long period and forgetting his responsibilities towards his people and kingdom.
,Although her wife gave her a reason to live .On her death bed,She took a promise that you would do something unique so our love become immortal after my death .
She was Jaha Nara , who remind him about his promise ,She is one who was responsible for the making of the Taj Mahal .its was surprise me too.
Again I am coming back to Jaha Nara .How would she feel when she was witnessed (experience d)
of love but she wouldn't allowed to feel the same. She saw her brothers nd father had many wives and enjoying their life but she was only spectator, she poured her heart to her mother..but she too was helpless, as she knew why she was not allowed to marry..
.if they would allowed their daughter to marry then heirs got right to claim for kingdom. It shows the selfishness of that period .that is reason why Mugal' s girl had illicit relationship,as they were not allow to have legal one . I believe ,its is a bodily need
How can you take the right from a person to enjoy her fundamental basics
But whole life she was true to her kingdom. She promised her mother ,She would look after her brother nd sister like her mother ...She did the same.
many times she was in dilemma whether to marry and live a happy married life or to sacrifice it for the promise given to her mother
Many times she felt to elope with Gabriel, but her virtues didn't allow . She is a true picture of royal daughter. She passed her whole life for Kingdom.
.Dara knew her relation with Gabriel (her lover). He understood her well .she were not favour of this type of discrimination. She wouldn't want her niece to face the same turmoil that she faced all her life. She implored her brother Dara, to marry off Dara's daughter.
since she knew how people talk behind their back when a girl gets into illicit relationships .She didnt wanted her niece to face the same fate
It was a mystery that Jaha Nara had kids , if there are kids then it must be from Gabriel To shun all this rumerous or to save the royal image of kingdom the King Shah Jahah admit that he had a relationship with her daughter .! but it was a mystery....no solid evidence!!!!
My mind wouldn't accept this ..No father could have relationship with her daughter.,It is my view point view , It is not backed by any evidence .now there are many questions pop up in my mind I am looking for their answer .
For Kingdom there is rivalry among siblings..
Aurangzeb started the battle against his brother ...nd killed everyone.after that he imprisoned his father nd sister Jaha Nara.
After his father death he got to know the truth...till that he ruin everything...
King admit that he had done same thing with their siblings so his son just repeat the history... kingdom is powerful. It over shadowed logical thinking..for this people forget everything..
What has changed!..still.people are doing same thing... now kingdom called by new name ... politics...... power power power .....
Ruin the generation.... nothing has changed.. just format get renewed...!!!!
